Starbucks cuts some prices for the first time, amid latest increases

Giant coffee chain Starbucks is to reduce the prices of some of its most popular beverages at the same time as increasing prices for other drinks, the company announced in late August.

In a first for the Seattle-based roaster/retailer, Starbucks announced that it would cut the prices of products including small coffees and lattes by five to ten cents (€0.03-€0.07), while at the same time boosting prices on its larger and more complex espresso-based drinks by up to 25 cents (€0.17), a Reuters report said.

The move is aimed at tailoring prices to the recent weaker consumer demand for coffee beverages, a spokesperson for the company was quoted as saying.
