MILAN – The Ugandan government will provide suitable alternative land to India’s Tata Coffee Ltd. to build its US$20 million soluble coffee plant, the managing director of the state-run Uganda Coffee Development Authority (Ucda) said to the press.
Tata Coffee Uganda Ltd., a unit of Tata Coffee, signed an agreement with the government in 2006 to set up a 3,600 metric tons a year instant coffee plant in Uganda, but disputes over the original site delayed the project.
The government will hold talks with the company over the issue which has held up the project since 2006, said Ngabirano.
