MILAN – Bugisu Cooperative Union (Bcu), Uganda’s oldest coffee buying body, plans to export roasted to the Us market.
Arabica coffee in Bugisu is cultivated on volcanic soils on small gardens owned by individual farmers. The coffee is mostly organically grown.
Their roasted, packed coffee is marketed in supermarkets in Mbale, Tororo and Kampala.
Bcu roasts, grinds and packs ground coffee powder under the trademark of “Elgon pride” for local markets. It is packaged in 100, 250 and 500gm.
They also roast beans and pack them in 500gm.
