MILAN – The Tanzanian Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority, or Sumatra, has prepared draft rules to speed up port operations and ease congestion at the Indian Ocean port of Dar es Salaam by bringing about efficiency and encouraging use of inland container depots, report local sources.
The port which serves Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, eastern Congo, Zambia and Malawi, is the export point for coffee, cotton and minerals such as gold and copper.
