Lipa City – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned the public against purchasing fake Nescafe coffee.
The warning was issued following the seizure of 50 boxes of counterfeit Nescafe coffee worth thousands of pesos during a raid at a warehouse in Lipa City.
The raid stemmed from the complaint of the Philippine representatives of the maker and distributor of Nescafe coffee and other Nescafe products.
Investigations led to the discovery of an apartment in Greenville Subdivision, Lipa City, which reportedly served as a warehouse for the alleged counterfeit Nescafe coffee.
The operation led to the seizure of 50 boxes of alleged fake Nescafe coffee. Each box is reportedly containing 60 pieces of 5-grams of Nescafe coffee.
The owners and operators of the establishment are facing charges for violation of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
