SAO PAULO, Nov 08, 2010 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) — Brazilian green coffee exports for October rose to 3.1 million 60-kilogram bags compared with 2.56 million bags a year ago, according to figures from the Brazilian Green Coffee Exporters Council, or Cecafe, on Monday.
Brazil, which is the worlds No. 1 coffee exporter, also shipped 2.9 million bags in September, according to Cecafe in an emailed statement.
Brazil shipped 2.99 million 60-kilogram bags of green arabica coffee and 112,932 bags of conillon coffee in October, Cecafe said.
Cecafe said Brazils total coffee exports, including instant coffee, reached 3.4 million bags, in comparison with 2.8 million bags a year ago.
The total value of all coffee exports was $637.5 million in the period, compared with $421 million a year ago, as coffee prices surged on supply concerns this season.
Brazilian coffee farmers recently ended their bumper arabica coffee harvest.
