From January to Aug. 31, Brazil has shipped a total of 15,911,595 bags of green coffee. Of the total, 15,138,172 bags were arabica and 773,423 bags were robusta. Exports are up for both coffee bean types so far this year, thanks to last seasons larger crop. In July and August, Brazil shipped 3.9 million bags of green coffee, compared with 4 million in the same period last year. Of the total, 3.45 million were arabica beans, compared with 3.7 last year, and 383,683 were robusta beans, compared with 315,218 bags over the same period in 2006.

Coffee exports have risen to all of Brazils main markets so far this year, according to Cecafe. Brazil shipped 3.2 million bags to Germany, up 11.8% on the year. The U.S. imported 2.8 million bags of Brazilian coffee, up 6.9% on the year. Italy was the third-biggest importer of Brazilian coffee, importing 1.8 million bags, or 14% more than the same period in 2006. -By Kenneth Rapoza, Dow Jones Newswires
