Cane farmers in Clarendon are expressing
concern over the start of operations at the Monymusk sugar factory in Lionel
Town.
Vice Chairman of the Mid-Clarendon Cane
Farmers Association, Dr. Horace Charo, says the company should have started
operations last week.

He says word has come from the management that
there will be a delay for at least a month.

According to Dr. Charo, this
is not sweet news for the association.

Dr. Charo added that the farmers
are also facing another problem with the damage to the Alley Bridge.

He
says farmers will have a difficulty getting their cane to the factory.
