The Business Journal of Portland –
Sustainable Harvest Coffee has announced it is opening an office in Lima, Peru, where company representatives can work directly with South American coffee growers.
The Portland-based coffee importing company describes the office as a training facility where organic, fair-trade growers can meet face to face with Sustainable Harvest’s representatives and roaster customers. The office will provide importer services to its suppliers such as agricultural and business training, marketing support, access to new markets and links to pre-harvest crop financing.
The Lima location is Sustainable Harvest’s second such office. It opened the first in Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2002.
Sustainable Harvest states that it reinvests half of the company’s budget into farmer training and grower relations.
