GLOBAL – Lavazza appoints new ceo, director of South Asia

MILAN – Lavazza, Italy\’s leading coffee brand and major player in the Indian coffee market, has announced a change in leadership for its South Asia unit as well as at coffee chain Barista.
 
The company named R Shivashankar as Director – South Asia, while appointing Sanjay Coutinho as CEO of the Barista Coffee Company, both effective immediately.
 
Shivashankar, who was formerly ceo of Lavazza’s Fresh and Honest Café unit, will now oversee the coordination of the group’s Indian subsidiaries (Fresh & Honest and Barista), as well as the management of distributors in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
 
Coutinho was most recently coo of Barista, having earlier spent 18 years in the retail and F&B industry at companies such as Baskin Robbins, Pantaloons Retail, Domino’s Pizza, and Sky Chef.
