MILAN – According to data from the International Coffee Organisation, world coffee exports amounted to 6.46 million bags in November 2009, compared with 7.26 million in November 2008.
Exports in the first 2 months of coffee year 2009/10 (October and November 2009) have decreased by 7.8% to 13.4 million bags compared to 14.5 million bags in the same period in the last coffee year.
In the twelve months ending November 2009, exports of Arabica totalled 60.8 million bags compared to 63.1 million bags last year; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 35.0 million bags compared to 33.1 million bags.
During the October-November period, overseas sale of coffee bean from Brazil dipped 11.11 percent to 5.34 million bags from 6.01 million bags in the corresponding period last year. Similarly, shipments from Colombia also declined to 1.15 million bags from 1.75 million bags.
But exports from other leading exporting nations such as Vietnam, Indonesia and India remained firm, it said.
