Coffee – Vietnam sees export turnover to Britain down in first half

HANOI – Vietnam’s export turnover to Britain in the first six months this year saw a 27 percent decrease year- on-year to 615.97 million U.S. dollars, according to the information center of Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday.



In this period, export turnover of some Vietnam’s products to this market saw a significant fall. Export of Vietnam’s coffee was down 47 percent year-on-year to 46.2 million U.S. dollars. Cashew was down 41 percent to 14.56 million U.S. dollars.


Among Vietnam’s export items to Britain in this period, footwear topped the list with export turnover of 225.8 million U.S. dollars, making up 36.6 percent of Vietnam’s total export turnover to this market.


Garment came to the second position with export turnover of 114. 78 million U.S. dollars. It was followed by wood products with 79. 8 million U.S. dollars, said the center.


The two-way trade between Vietnam and Britain in 2008 was 1.76 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.2 percent year-on-year, according to Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Agency.
