RUSSIA – Finland’s Paulig Coffee to build a roasting plant in Tver region

MILAN – Finnish Paulig Coffee, a leading roaster in Scandinavia and the Baltic states, has begun work at a site in Tver region, north-west of Moscow, where it will build a coffee-roasting facility, the executive director of Gustav Paulig Ltd., Pekka Pirinen, told the press in Helsinki last week.


The facility will be built in the Borovlevo-2 industrial zone next summer. A general contracting agreement for the construction was signed last month. The plant is expected to become operative in 2011. It will have capacity to produce 6,000 tonnes of coffee a year and employ 60 people.


Project investment will total about 20 million euro in the first phase. Gustav Paulig Ltd. signed the investment agreement with Tver region in early 2008.


In other news, Paulig has recently completed construction of its new state of the art and facility in Helsinki which is slated to become one of the largest roasting plant in the world, with a capacity of more than 40 million kg per year. Paulig invested 120 million euros in the facility which will likely be fully operational by the end of 2009.
