DAILY COFFEE CONSUMPTION UP IN 2005

• Most Americans now drink coffee every day.

• In 2005, the amount of daily coffee drinkers increased to 53 percent from 49 percent in 2004.

• The total percent of men and women who drink coffee every day is nearly equal: 52 percent of men and 53 percent of women.

• Total number of cups consumed per day among coffee drinkers increased to 1.75 in 2005, up from 1.64 in 2004 and 1.5 in 2003.

• In 2005, Americans distinguished the taste of their coffee as the No. 1 motivator, by far, to drink it.


WHY WE DRINK COFFEE BREWED BENEATH THE ARCHES

• McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. serve more than 500 million cups of coffee each year.

• Nearly 1 out of 10 cups of coffee purchased outside the home in the U.S. is sold at McDonald’s.
